Bagatelle Road Safer Routes To School

Closed 21 Mar 2022

Opened 28 Feb 2022

Overview

Bagatelle Road is one of the busiest routes into St Helier and home to the St Saviour’s School Cluster. We are ambitious about making more improvements so that pedestrians and cyclists have a safer environment when using this area.

As part of the St Saviour’s School Action Plan and Safer Routes to Schools, Infrastructure, Housing and Environment is looking to explore ways that we can reduce pollution, promote healthier modes of transport and generally make our streets safer for the Bagatelle Road area. The quality of the physical environment is a key priority for Jersey residents and this is reflected in the Government's Sustainable Transport Policy.

The importance of the physical environment has been brought into sharp relief by:

  • A growing awareness of the impact of climate change and the need to tackle it.
  • The lasting impacts that COVID-19 and the past 2 years have had on the island's residents, businesses and visitors. One impact is the emergence of local places, businesses and communities as more important than ever.
  • An emphasis on quality of life and place-shaping in the island's neighbourhoods. A key part of this will be a focus on how the Government and the community can work collaboratively to identify and shape priorities for local intervention to improve local places and make them safer.

Why your views matter

We are taking a collaborative approach to this consultation. Residents in Jersey are being asked to be involved in developing suggestions for their local area and together we are working to find new ways to improve our Island neighbourhoods.
